Google Voice

Last but not least, if you’re in the US you can also use Google Voice .

This solution won’t use the phone number that’s associated with your phone, but rather the phone number which was given to your Google Voice account. However, because all of the SMS messages are stored on Google’s servers in Google Voice, you can use your phone, tablet, computer, or any other device to check all of your SMS messages and reply to them. This solution is only ideal for people who actually use their Google Voice number and other Google Voice features — otherwise, you’d be completely switching your phone number (at least the one you give out to people) just for the SMS features. Additionally, MMS messaging doesn’t work with Google Voice.

The best part about this solution is that you don’t need to have your phone on the Internet, or even turned on for that matter. You can just have your computer turned on to send SMS messages just fine. This is because any calls or SMS messages sent to your Google Voice number will first be received by Google, where it will either store your SMS messages or forward phone calls to your actual phone number. Therefore, SMS messages received via your Google Voice number are stored on Google’s servers rather than your own phone, and you can use the Google Voice Android/iOS app or web app to access them.

When you first install the mobile app, it should set you up for the Google Voice features, if you don’t have them already, or simply connect to them if you already do. This is a fairly easy process, but beware that Google Voice will try to replace your wireless carrier’s voicemail with its own. You can skip this part if you’re not interested in that.

Send & Check Messages From :

  • any Android or iOS device with the Google Voice app

I know they are stored on the device but will they be accessible(off cloud0 if the device is restored? Can company retrieve the imessage If SEND/RECEIVE option in imessages settings are set to the company phone number? Or is it better to use send/receive option to a personal email? If the phone is restored is there anyway for company to look through old imessages? Thanks.   share

All they see is data being used. That's because iMessages go through Apple's servers and NOT the carrier's servers. Apple encrypts the data. Your iDevice has the key. Apple does not have the key. Hence, Apple cannot itself access your iMessages. If your company has your Apple ID and password then, yes, they can access your data. If they require you to use a company provided Apple ID then most certainly they can see what you are doing. But if none of that is true, then no. Being legally compelled by your company to provide your Apple ID and password is another matter.   share

Joined: Feb 18, 2010 #5 Thanks for the excellent explanation. I have my own apple id. I know if I delete an imessage conversation it is still on the device. So if I wipe the device can the company access the imessages if they log in using my apple id? I am asking as I am curious as to how imessage retains messages on your device and on the cloud. eyoungren said: ↑ You are mixing things up a bit. First off, your carrier is irrelevant. If you have deleted content before they do that, it's gone. They won't see it. Just like you won't see it. Beyond that we are dealing with data forensics which may or may not work depending on the importance/willingness to spend money your company may place upon the matter.   share

Joined: Jul 5, 2011 #8 my company says they can and do. They archive every text. In my industry our firms are required to keep copies of all written communications(financial industry). I think companies like mine are the extreme on this issue. our apple id on a work device had to be our work email. We don't even have access to the app store on a 6S. Company has total control of device. for this reason i am a 2 phone guy. Sorry, just saw original post. Not sure what they can see on an employee owned phone. Read the terms and conditions. if we use our own phones for work. They have the ability to unlock and inspect device with our our consent. How they accomplish that is not specified.   share

I would think most regulated companies make their employees sign agreements with corporate phones or byod phones not to modify the operating system. A breach could cost these companies dearly and as such I've seen language of terminating in these agreements.   share

I've never known any legitimate business to engage in jailbreaking and if they did they'd have only a small slice of devices and versions of iOS to choose from. Including your statement then, all the way around, this would be a no-go. Which is why I was curious about iphonehype's statement. I took iphonehype to mean that a company would purposely jailbreak an iDevice just so they could more easily capture messaging.   share

Not the company jail breaking or rooting the device, the devices' primary user. Companies, obviously wouldn't allow devices within their "network " to be compromised.   share

Method 2: How to recover WhatsApp Chat History on iPhone Using iCloud

WhatsApp doesn’t store chat history on their server but you can use iCloud to recover deleted ones. Recovering WhatsApp history using iCloud requires you to have WhatsApp version 2.10.1 and later, iOS 5.1 or later, iCloud account. The most important thing amongst all – the documents and data settings on your iPhone should be turned “On”. To retrieve deleted or accidentally lost WhatsApp conversations, follow this guide:

  • Make sure that you have a WhatsApp backup created through iCloud.
  • Delete WhatsApp on your iPhone.
  • Reinstall the application from the App Store.
  • Verify your phone number and follow on-screen prompts.
  • This should automatically restore your chat history.

Using iCloud to recover deleted WhatsApp messages iPhone is very easy. Though, bear in mind that you need to use the same phone number when creating WhatsApp backups and restoration. Now this is very frustrating especially for those who had lost their passwords, usernames, accounts stolen etc. Unlike with iPhone data recovery tool, you don’t need to have backups nor delete apps and latter for restoring them. Just use your iDevice, iTunes backup or iCloud backup to recover files with a few clicks.

To Spy or Not to Spy

Learning how to spy on text messages can be a great thing but, as with many things, it is human nature to abuse such power.

Keeping your children safe and out of harms way can hardly be a crime in my opinion. And employers who want to maintain good productivity are only acting in the best interest of their company, so I’m on board with that. Many people want to monitor loved ones for other reasons. Text message spy software can certainly get the job done for these interests but I caution you to act responsibly as this software is powerful enough to get any of these jobs done.

This technology is primarily used for parents who want to monitor their children and employers who want to monitor company owned devices. Parents are permitted to monitor the phones of their children and employers are permitted to monitor the company owned devices used by employees however, the employer must first gain the consent of the employee before they can monitor the company owned devices the employee will be using. Interestingly, even after gaining the employees consent the employer is not allowed to look at any personal correspondence made by an employee on a company owned device. Anybody using this software, or considering using this software, should always abide by applicable laws.
